Canadian Online Sales Data for Q2 2015 (Infographic)

The Rakuten Linkshare Affiliate Network has released its online sales data report for the second quarter of 2015. The insights gained come just in time for us to tweak our websites and practices as holiday shopping begins. A number of Canadians have been known to start Christmas shopping online as early as August!

Between the growth trend in smartphone usage and search engines like Google considering mobile compatibility in ranking, it has become absolutely critical that websites be mobile-friendly. Omni-channel demands from online shoppers also continue to grow. Orders and clicks via mobile device are climbing faster than PC’s in the second quarter of 2015, according to this report. Tablet orders and click rates are slowing down as an increasing number of Canadians use a smartphone as both a phone and a tablet.

AMAZING IMPROVEMENT YOY! It’s like everyone in Canada woke up at once and realized they had to jump on the ecommerce bandwagon. Fantastic news!

I agree about the timing of second quarter reports. I found out the first season that I had to start preparing for the holidays online by the end of August and launch well before Halloween. I no longer work in online retail but I keep up on it in case it becomes part of a future job. It will probably be part of all future jobs! 🙂

I actually manage the affiliate program for my employer which makes the information here especialy helpful. With thanks!

That’s some significant upticks you cite. It will only increase more with the holidays. 😀
