Paypal’s latest US competitor, Stripe, extended its services to Canadian online businesses this month. The expansion comes only one year after Stripe’s launch in the US. Canada has been suffering from limited options in online payments and is expected to quickly embrace Stripe.
According to eMarketer research, Canadian online B2C (business to consumer) sales growth will exceed US e-commerce growth until at least 2016.
Canadian web-based and e-Commerce-enabled retail stores are enjoying growth that brick & mortar establishments can only dream of, according to a MasterCard Canada SpendingPulse (TM) Report that “demonstrates e-Commerce is the shining light in retail”. All indicators suggest retail establishments in Canada would be well-advised to set up online shopping if they want to thrive.
