The Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) has launched a new Canadian small business directory and deal-finder. Shop Small Biz is an online, Canada-wide search tool dedicated exclusively to Canadian independent small/medium/home-based businesses. It is free for both businesses and consumers to use.
The site explains, “Shop Small Biz is an initiative to empower small business owners and to educate consumers about the important role that small businesses play in our lives. We want to empower all Canadians to spread the word about the importance of shopping small.”
Business owners will have to register, then can add their business details, links, deals and logo. Consumers visiting the mobile-friendly directory can search by keyword or browse by type of business. When they land on the home page, deals for their area will automatically appear.
To celebrate the launch, you can enter a contest to win $500, a one year CFIB membership, and inclusion in the Shop Small Biz advertising and public relations campaign for Fall, 2013. To enter, tell them why you think your small business should be featured as a Small Biz Champion by September 30th, 2013.
Shop Small Biz is presented by CFIB, in partnership with Interac and The National Post/Postmedia.
