GoDaddy and Hockey Legend Doug Gilmour Inspire Canadian eCommerce

TORONTO, Aug. 23, 2018 /CNW/ – GoDaddy, the world’s largest cloud platform dedicated to small, independent ventures, today announced it is teaming up with Toronto hockey legend Doug Gilmour to inspire Canadians to bring their ideas to life online. To do that, GoDaddy helped Doug Gilmour launch his latest venture, a lifestyle apparel collaboration with FLi, by building a website on its Managed WordPress platform.

As one of Toronto’s most beloved hockey stars, Doug Gilmour has embraced his drive, which propelled him to greatness on the ice, to harness his entrepreneurial side. Aside from staying close to hockey as President of the Kingston Frontenacs, Doug has many side hustles that reflect his range of interests, including a bespoke wine label and craft beer venture, in addition to authoring an award-winning book.

Doug is now excited to launch a new lifestyle apparel collection in collaboration with FLi (Fear.Less.Inc.), designed to mesh fashion and purpose. FLi’s goal is to motivate people, challenge the status quo and make a positive difference. FLi and Doug Gilmour have collaborated on the launch of his apparel and jewelry collection, which includes t-shirts, caps and Doug’s favourite beaded bracelets, available in men’s and women’s. The collaboration contains a message that challenges the mind, and provides motivation for people to strive to reach their desired goals. Doug’s products are available for purchase at DougGilmour93.com, with a portion of the proceeds going towards charities that make the world a better, greener and more tolerant place.

Doug’s newly minted e-commerce website was developed and built by the GoDaddy Professional Web Services team using GoDaddy Managed WordPress hosting. Managed WordPress handles all web hosting tasks including software and security updates, daily backups; and seamlessly integrates with secure payments sites and acts as a hub for a business’ social platforms. GoDaddy Managed WordPress is the easiest way to build your own website with deep site customization and functionality.

“While hockey will always be my first love, retirement from the game has allowed me the flexibility to pursue many of my different passions,” said Doug Gilmour. “Now more than ever, it’s essential for any business to be online, which is why I wanted to launch my collaboration with FLi online. With the help of GoDaddy Managed WordPress and the Professional Web Services team, I have a great looking, powerful website that acts as the hub for all my ventures.”

Doug Gilmour is an entrepreneur at heart, and when we heard he was launching a lifestyle line, we knew we wanted to help him get online,” said Jill Schoolenberg, Vice President and Country Manager at GoDaddy Canada. “Building the website for Doug Gilmour to act as a hub for all of his ventures, including his newest collaboration with FLi, highlights how easy it is for Canadians to make their business ideas a reality online with GoDaddy.”
