5 Specialized SEO Services to Offer Your Virtual Clients

Whether you’re a virtual marketing assistant, contractor, or you run a marketing agency, there are some Search Engine Optimization (SEO) services that you can offer to increase your bottom line. The global demand is expected to remain consistent for the foreseeable future. Growth is anticipated in Canada, as more businesses venture online in this country.

SEO Services to Offer Your Clients

Following are five SEO services for you to consider offering, to make your online business more profitable.

1. SEO Content Writing

If you enjoy writing, being an SEO content writer is one of the easiest services that you can offer. The internet is built on content. Google has stated numerous times that sites with the most relevant, high-quality content are ranked higher. Focus on providing well-researched, long-form content that has pictures, videos and outbound links to ‘authority’ sites.

You’ll need to learn how to properly conduct keyword research and analyze search data. SEO tools like SEMRush will help you to identify keywords to use throughout each article. Start by doing a Google search on the main keyword. Then, check the first website that comes up with your SEO tools. For example, using SEMRush you can select the “organic” keywords tab to see what other keywords that particular website is ranking for. This will give you a group of keywords that you can use within the article you’re writing.

Ultimately, it will help the article rank well for more keywords, get more traffic, and ensure that your clients keep coming back for more SEO articles.

2. Link Building

Another coveted SEO service that you can offer is link building. Link building revolves around search engine algorithms that judge a website’s quality by how many other sites link to it.

The first thing you must be aware of, is there are both ‘white hat’ and ‘black hat’ link building tactics.

Black Hat Link building can include several shady practices that may result in penalties for both your site and the site you’re promoting. Google, for example, prohibits the purchase of links for SEO purposes. Posting on link farms or starting a Private Blog Network (PBN) specifically for sponsored content with “do follow” links, are both examples of blackhat link building.

‘White hat’ link building involves acceptable ways to increase backlinks, such as guest posting, infographics, or suggesting a valuable resource for an article that already exists on the site. The jury is still out about the impact of link building on search results, but it remains a popular strategy.

Writing guest posts for link building is time consuming if you do it all yourself, so you may want to hire a writer or two to help. You can purchase more general, relevant content and only do the SEO part yourself. Quality SEO content is tough to find, so if you keep your standards high you can charge well over $100 per piece.

If you have some graphic design talent, you can offer additional services like creating diagrams for articles or infographics to distribute to popular sites.

3. On-Page Optimization

Another SEO service that you can offer, is on-page optimization. This is essential for any page to rank well and must be done properly, within the guidelines of major search engines.

Typically, you’ll audit the site first so you know how much work will be involved. You’ll also do some keyword research and gather competitive intelligence.

Once you’ve identified what needs to be done, you’ll estimate the number of hours it will take so you can give your potential client a quote. Most charge per hour for this service because there are many variables that can increase or reduce the time required to complete the project.

Some SEO jobs that may come up are:

  • Post URL optimization (which will require a redirect if you change it)
  • Page title optimization
  • Page description
  • Header optimization
  • Content focus keyword(s)
  • Readability
  • Image size optimization
  • Image alt tags
  • Load time/speed
  • Issues with code or themes

4. Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO)

Conversion rate optimization is extremely important for all websites, particularly if you’re trying to increase sales/revenue without increasing traffic. CRO is both an art and a skill, and one of the best ways to learn is on your own website.

You’ll need to learn how to conduct A/B split tests in order to achieve higher conversion rates.

“A/B testing is the process of comparing two versions of a web page, email, or other marketing asset and measuring the difference in performance,” writes Neil Patel. “After you create your variations, you give one version to one group and the other version to the other group. Then you can see if behavior changed between the two groups.”

In order to become skilled in this particular field it’s best to take a good course, and then practice on many sites before you offer it as a service.

5. Penalty Recovery

Another service to consider offering, is penalty recovery. This SEO service is best left to experienced experts who have already done penalty recovery for at least a dozen websites.

This service is in high demand as Google becomes more aggressive in penalizing websites that it has flagged. There can be a range of issues that cause penalties, from simple to highly technical.

“A Google penalty usually happens for one of two reasons,” says the MasterSEO agency. “Either Google has identified you as attempting to cheat its search algorithm in order to appear higher in search results, or your website has been identified as providing an unsafe and/or noticeably poor user experience.”

If you’re new at penalty recovery, you might want to consider becoming an agency intern to learn the ropes. Alternately, you can offer the service at a seriously reduced rate (or free) to gain experience. You can volunteer to provide the service to charities in exchange for a review as well.

This is a Serious Online Business

If you’re going to offer SEO services, it isn’t enough to be familiar with them. You’ll be hired because a company needs an expert in the field. Learning these skills will take some time, but becoming an expert is sure to make your online business more profitable.

Penalty recovery is a tough one to break into because you have to have references to prove you can do it. There’s no real course you can take. Volunteering to get experience is a great idea!!
